A crescent lens, also known as a concave convex lens, can reduce the spherical aberration and produce the minimum straight incident light focus. It is based on the relative curvature of two surfaces, and can be a positive or negative lens. The center of a negative meniscus lens is thinner than its periphery, while the center of a positive meniscus lens is thicker than its periphery.
The Meniscus Lens is a special type of lens that consists of a convex surface on one side (outward curvature) and a concave surface on the other side (inward curvature), forming a crescent shaped lens as a whole, hence its name.
